First and foremost I am committed as a nurse to make a difference in people’s lives. I feel that the profession of nursing provides me the best opportunity to accomplish this goal. Nursing is unlike any other profession and that’s why I decided to become a nurse. We are responsible for one of the most precious things in the world a “Human Life”. As a young child lying in my hospital bed I looked to my nurse for comfort. She always found some way to comfort and alleviate my pain. She went that extra mile and provided me with an environment that was conducive for healing. After that hospital stay I decided that I wanted to become a nurse. This was due to the care I received from this nurse while I was in the hospital. I feel I have many characteristics that allow me to be an affective nurse. However I feel that the characteristic of empathy is what allows me to provide high quality of care to my patients. I treat my patients in holistic manner I feel it is imperative to take everything into account while treating illness. This in turn creates more positive patient outcomes. Also the patient’s family plays an integral role in the treatment process as well. Teaching and educating family members about the treatment plan will increase positive patient outcomes. As I nurse I integrate all of the above in my daily practice. I want impact patients in the same manner I was impacted as a child. I enjoy seeing my patients do well. I am also very self motivated and I love to learn.
